Wedding Threads. Book-in-a-Box

Wedding Book-in-a-Box

I was so excited when my daughter, Sophie, announced she was getting married! She particularly wanted a box in which wedding guests could put their cards and I was pleased she gave me free rein to design it how I wished. Like me, she loves handmade books, so I was also going to make a book to fit snugly inside the box leaving enough room to store cards and other mementos.

The box lid and book cover were made in my favourite ‘Making Waves’ design where I overlap satin, chiffon, voile and lace to make a richly textured background. This cloth was then embellished with interesting threads and finished off with hand stitch, sequins and beads. For the box sides and back cover of the book I used Great-Grandma’s vintage damask tablecloth. I transferred a favourite photo onto voile and hand stitched this inside the album for an unusual and personal touch.

To make the book more versatile I suggested that on each anniversary Sophie and Nicky put a photo in the album so they have a lifetime of happy memories to look back upon and an heirloom to share with family and friends.
