Ready to shop…
At last I’ve finally finished lining my poppy bag. I got a bit carried away and added more and more little pockets – for pens, specs, mobile, and iPad. Anchor rouleaus for keys and purse should make finding these things at the bottom of my bag so much easier!
If anyone would like me to customise their bag just contact me and I’ll be delighted to discuss options.

I’ve had a bit of a “distracted” couple of weeks so I’ve only just finished embellishing my little bag. I always did like a touch of sparkle and shine!
I bought this cute little jute bag and am turning it into a handbag. With co-ordinating fabric to line it I have made pockets for an iPad, phone and pens and rouleaus to anchor my purse and keys – all zipped in securely so nothing can fall out. Next job is to add some teensy sequins and a few more beads to make the poppies really stand out.
This travel bag is ready to try out on my next trip to see how well it functions but I think it may need a few little tweaks before I’m really happy with it…
In my stash of fabrics I found this vintage style woven fabric filled with wording and travel stamps. Just right for a travel bag with zip pockets and just large enough to carry passport, phone, cards and keys. It will fold flat and hang close across the body – so unobtrusive it can even be worn under a coat for carefree sightseeing.
As a break from sewing I’ve been teaching myself how to do Tunisian crochet so practising in my favourite colour is a joy – and, fancy, one of the hooks is turquoise, too!
After sorting through my mountains of scraps I made a couple of little zip bags and two make-up brush rolls. These were things I’ve never made before but ‘sew’ satisfying to do! I’ll try some different styles and sizes to see which is my favourite.
My younger daughter is getting married next year and I am on bunting duty. She gave me some fabrics and searching through my stash I found quite a few to compliment them. Next step is cutting them out but I need enough to decorate a marquee – I’d better start soon!
A while ago I made a floral hanging from scraps of dyed fabrics overprinted and accentuated with hand stitch. Not surprisingly a little turquoise snuck in! Now I think it’s time to up-cycle. Shall I make some little book covers, or maybe some greetings cards? Which to do? Perhaps some of each…
I have made a new set of greetings cards good for most occasions – birthday, new home, change of address, get well, just saying “hello”….. It’s a good excuse to try out my latest prop and a few plants do make it look better.
