One for the bin…
but I took it out, unscrumpled it and added more layers of paint. It’s difficult to imagine this unpromising start may well turn into something special with a little perseverance (and a bit of luck!) We shall see…

with my last project in this final phase of DIY. I had an old window frame that I’d previously stripped back to the original pine wood while it was used as a window. When the wall was removed I was loathe to throw the frame out so decided to tidy it up and have it glazed to use as a mirror. The other alternative is to make a landscape textile to put behind it … maybe one day … In the meanwhile, the mirror idea wins hands down!
Wedding books, even my daughter’s, are temporarily on the back burner as I’ve a decorating deadline. Thank goodness it’s the last room!
So… while stripping walls I uncovered this trellis imprint beneath painted woodchip. It’s all that’s left of a once pretty Victorian wallpaper. It may even inspire me for a vintage wedding cloth.
Finally getting round to the last of the DIY with skirting boards to strip and painted wood-chip to scrape off the walls. I notice my gloves are not holding up to the heat of the gun so I hope my nails don’t melt! I’ll be glad to get back to sewing – it’s much safer!!
but not for long! I have so many boxes filled with smallish scraps of fabric and while sorting through them new projects came to mind. Perhaps I could make purses, pouch bags and Kindle cases. I’ll have a little play and let you know how I get on.
My Victorian kitchen fireplace has been neglected and left outside to rust all winter…… but I have given it a new lease of life. After hoeing the ground it has been fixed to the garden wall and will double up as a prop to display new books and cards that need photographing. Now just need to do some planting.
In deep concentration: a bridesmaid writes a special message to the bride and groom in their memory book.
No creations to show you as yet as I have been very busy celebrating my daughter’s wedding which is actually a fabulous three-part wedding! So, instead, I am showing off my chrome ‘cocktail-time’ nails glistening in the early evening Ibiza sun where we had part two of the wedding. And now there is part three to look forward to…….
as I have been moving into my new ‘studio’ this week. Everything went into storage and I forgot how much I had accumulated over the years. I really must try and de-clutter but how will I know what I may or may not need in the future? Oh dear, such difficult decisions to be made!
It’s not that I don’t like decorating but the WORST thing about DIY is the clearing up! So, the sooner I get this job done the sooner I can get back to my sewing machine. I have a few wedding books in mid-make and can’t wait to see how they turn out.
