After painting the Bondaweb in a range of co-ordinating shades to blend with the fraying rectangles, I ironed the three layers together completing the sandwich. I now have a base cloth ready to top with layers of sheers and chiffons which will be anchored down with machine and handstitch before the final finishing touch of an odd bead or two. That’s the plan anyway!!
Now I have my component parts I just need to layer them up starting with the painted base. Then, carefully placing the rectangles on top, I’ll iron the first part of the sandwich.
I needed to make my little rectangles stay together so I wet a piece of fusible cotton and painted it green then scrunched it up and dabbed blue on the top. When it dries I’ll place the squares on top and iron it so it all sticks together.
I looked through one of my many textiles books and found a fabulous contemporary design to inspire me.
Not being sure of what to do next I tore up each piece of printed fabric and randomly placed them in some sort of order. I now need to turn the whole thing into one large piece of usable cloth.
